How do you fix the Microinverters Not Reporting system error?

Updated over a month ago

If you see a Microinverters Not Reporting system status in your Enphase App, it means that some or all of your solar panels are not sending data to the gateway. In the ARRAY screen of your Enphase App, these panels may appear black.

This error does not always mean your system has stopped producing power—in many cases, it is simply a communication issue between the microinverters and the gateway. Below, we’ll walk through common causes and practical fixes.

Why does this error happen

The Microinverters Not Reporting status usually points to a disruption in the communication path between your microinverters and the gateway. This can happen due to:

  • Weather conditions such as heavy clouds or snow cover

  • Electrical interference on powerlines

  • Plugging the gateway into an incorrect outlet or unsuitable location

  • Tripping of circuit breakers

  • Rarely, a faulty microinverter

Identify your gateway type

The troubleshooting steps differ slightly depending on which type of gateway you have. To know your gateway type, open the Enphase App and go to Menu > System > Devices > Gateway.

Note: For safety reasons, do not attempt to access or modify electrical panels, wiring, or breakers unless you are a licensed electrician. If such action is required in the following instances, contact a certified electrician.

Fixes for IQ Gateway and Envoy S Metered

  1. Check weather conditions

    • If your area is experiencing thick cloud cover or snow on the panels, the error may clear once the weather improves.

  1. Check the solar (PV) breakers

    • Locate your breaker box—usually part of the main or subpanel, commonly found outside your house, in the basement, or in the garage.

    • If the solar (PV) breaker is tripped, flip it back on. Wait up to 24 hours to see if reporting is restored.

  1. Relocate if needed

    • If the gateway has been moved from its original location, return it or place it in an outlet closer to the load center.

When to contact PlugPV

In most cases, the above steps resolve the error within 24–48 hours. If the system status does not return to normal, it may indicate a deeper issue, such as a faulty microinverter. At that point, reach out to PlugPV Customer Support.
