Your Solar Project Timeline: Stages & What They Mean

We want you to always know exactly where your project stands and what's happening behind the scenes. Here's is a simple breakdown of every major project stage, their sub-stages, and a clear explanation of what each one means for you as a customer.

1. Site Assessment

What This Means

Welcome Call

Your Project Manager will call to introduce themselves, explain the next steps, and make sure we have everything needed to move forward.

Site Assessment

A Technician visits your home to measure the roof, check electrical equipment, and gather all information needed for engineering and system design. You'll get a two-hour arrival window for this appointment.

2. Design & Engineering

What This Means

In Design

Our design team reviews all Site Assessment data, evaluates shading, checks your roof layout, and creates your solar design and engineering documents.

3. Approvals

Sub-Stage

What This Means

Ready for Approvals

Your Project Manager prepares and sends a Customer Approval Packet (CAP) and will review your final system design with you.

CAP Complete

You have approved your system design, any necessary changes have been made, and your project can proceed.

Pending R&I

We're working with your jurisdiction, utility, and any other authorities for required rebate and utility interconnection approvals. Some agencies take longer than others -- we follow up at least once per week.

4. Scheduling

Install Ready to Schedule

Your project has all required approvals and is officially ready to be placed on the installation calendar.

Install Date Requested

Our Field Operations team is reviewing your project and offering available installation dates. Your Project Manager will confirm the date with you.

5. Installation

Sub-Stage

What This Means

Installation Scheduled

Your installation date is locked in! Your Project Manager will confirm everything you need to know for install day.

6. Inspection

Sub-Stage

What This Means

Installation Completed

Your solar system has been installed. Now, we review photos for quality and prepare for inspection.

Inspection Requested

We've requested a final inspection for your new solar system. This timing varies depending on inspector availability.

7. Permission to Operate (PTO)

What This Means

Inspection Completed

Your system has passed inspection, and we're sending required paperwork to your utility company.

PTO Submitted

All documentation and paperwork has been sent to your utility company for permission to energize (turn on) your system.

8. Closeout

Sub-Stage

What This Means

PTO Approved

Your utility company has granted Permission to Operate (PTO.) Your system is now officially allowed to run and produce power.

System Activation

Your Project Manager activates your system remotely and ensures your monitoring is online and functional.

9. In Service

Sub-Stage

What This Means

In Service

Your project is complete! Any future needs will go through our Customer Support Team, and they can answer questions or create service tickets for you anytime.
