My neighbor can see their energy usage in their monitoring app. Why can't I?

Some systems include consumption monitoring hardware, while others don't. Requirements vary by inverter type, finance provider, and whether installation is feasible based on your home's electrical setup.

Why You May Not See Your Home's Energy Usage

Not all solar systems are installed with consumption monitoring. Your neighbor's setup may differ from yours for several reasons:

  1. Your Inverter May Not Support It

Some inverter models don't come with consumption monitoring hardware by default. It's an optional add-on for many systems.

  2. Your Finance Provider May Not Require It

A few lenders mandate consumption monitoring, but most do not. If it wasn't a requirement, it may not have been included in your system design.

  3. It's Not Always Possible to Install

Certain homes cannot accommodate consumption sensors due to:

    • Tight or crowded main panels

    • Lack of physical space for CT (Current Transformer) clamps

    • Unique wiring configurations

Safety and code requirements come first.

Enphase Systems

As of February 1, 2024, consumption monitoring is included on new Enphase systems by default, but older installations such as SolarEdge systems may not have it.
